The Search panel is always available to you on the left hand side of the page.
To perform a basic search simply type your search term in the Keyword box and then click on the Go button.
Your search results will appear on the right hand side.Use the navigation bar at the top or bottom of the page to navigate through the list of search results. You can control the number of results listed on the page by using the Resources per page drop-down menu. Results can be sorted by type by using the Select Type drop-down menu.
To clear the search results and perform a new search, click the Reset link underneath the Keyword box.
Once a search has been completed a Search Within box will appear underneath the Keyword box. Use this to add additional keywords or terms to narrow your search results.
Underneath the Keyword box are various content filters:
To filter your results using any of these filters, click on the filter to display the options. Then use the check boxes to select any filters that you want to apply to your search.
Sub-options to apply further filters to your search are available if you see
next to the filter. When sub-options are selected, the parent option changes to green indicating a sub-option has been selected.
When you are ready, click Go . Your filtered results will be displayed on the right. See Search Results.
Use the Select All button to select all filters in section, or Reset to remove the filters.
Age Range
You can filter depending on age range by selecting appropriate check boxes. The age range that is presented depends on whether you are logged in as a Primary or Secondary user. Clicking on the
Extend button with a Primary Teacher's login will change the age range to Secondary. With a Secondary login, clicking the
Extend button will change the age range to Primary for both Teacher and Student. The
Extend button will also automatically change the age range accordingly.
Subject
You can filter the search to specific subject areas and sub-topics. The subject areas that are presented depend on whether you are logged in as a Primary or Secondary user. Clicking on the
Extend button with a Primary Teacher's login will change the subject areas to Secondary. With a Secondary login the subject areas will change to Primary when the
Extend button is selected for both Teacher and Student. The
Extend button will also automatically change the subject areas accordingly.
Resource Type
You can filter the search to specific resource type:

Content Providers
You can filter content by a specific content provider within GGfL On Demand.
Timeline
Some content is date specific. Enter the date range and then click the
Go button to return search results for that time period.
Results are returned dependent on keyword and filter settings. At the head of the page is a collapsible box giving information depending on which Resource Type sub-options have been selected for the search.
Click the Advanced Search link under the Keyword box to display the advanced search options.
GGfL On Demand supports basic Boolean search operators. To simplify using these, we have added additional keyword boxes. To use, add an additional search term into a box and select a Boolean operator from the drop down menu.
AND. Using AND narrows a search by combining terms; it will display results that use both the search terms you specify. For example:
Cats AND Dogs
OR. Using OR performs a search that will include results containing any of the keywords you are searching for. OR is a good tool to use when there are several similar terms. For example:
Bungalow OR Cottage
NOT. Using NOT narrows a search by excluding specific keywords. NOT retrieves documents that contain the main keyword, but NOT the keyword in the advanced search keyword box. For example:
Cat NOT Dog.
GGfL On Demand also supports fuzzy search. It is enabled when the check box is selected and will then include searches with misspellings and variations of your keywords. The fuzziness is variable - click on Fuzzy Search to adjust the strength using the slide bar. Fuzzy Search is disabled by default.
